He has a talent for picking pockets that leads him to pick the pocket of mobster Gioni Madadonte. Gioni finds the boy amusing and decides to give him a chance to work. They begin a friendship that takes Brent upward thru the Castelloni family, giving him the respect of the Don himself.

Carrie Brown has left her family in rural West Virginia. She witnesses a mafia hit but to the amazement of Anthony Giovanni, Carrie shows no emotion. He strikes a conversation with the young woman. Carrie tells of her home and places to easily hide a body. She travels with them, shocking them all to hide the body. Seeing that Carrie could have possibilities, Anthony offers her a job, which she gladly accepts, and soon becomes a valuable asset.
